Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi's OMG 2 is set to premiere on an OTT platform on October 8. Netflix, the streaming service, recently unveiled the digital release date for the film. However, director Amit Rai has disclosed that the OTT version of OMG 2 will not be presented in an uncensored format. Prior to its theatrical release, OMG 2 was granted an 'A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and underwent a substantial 27 cuts. In a previous interview, the director had indicated that the uncensored version of the film would be accessible on the OTT platform. However, he has now informed a news outlet that the version screened in theaters remains unchanged and will be the same version presented on Netflix. As per a Hindustan Times report, the director expressed his viewpoint, stating, "I'm not certain about their concerns. The streaming platform will present the identical version that received approval from the Censor Board. What more can be done about this? The entire nation raised their voices, but despite that, the Censor Board's decision couldn't be overturned, so there's not much that can be changed." The director also criticized the CBFC for not editing the intimate scenes featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar's recent film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The director further expressed disappointment and shared his experience of watching Gadar 2 in the cinema, where a film with U/A certificate played a condom advertisement featuring Kartik Aaryan in the midst of the screening. The filmmaker pointed out this hypocrisy and even questioned Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh's kissing scenes in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) as it wasn't appropriate for children as well.
